As a dental student, one of the recurring themes (outcome) that you will be faced with is the social aspects of dentistry. You will embark upon the Personal and Professional Development theme dentistry
programme in Year 1 and will start to consider topics such as the phenomenology of health and disease,communication, ethical and legal issues such as human rights and consent and professionalism
generally.
Your initial experience of these topics will take place in both lectures and small group teaching: all we require from you is a preparedness to engage and to consider dentistry from a social rather than a clinical perspective! After all, your patients are people!
