Coordination chemistry
Coordination compounds, as the term is usually used in inorganic chemistry,
include compounds composed of a metal atom or ion and one or more ligands
(atoms, ions, or molecules) that formally donate electrons to the metal. This
definition includes compounds with metal-carbon bonds, called organometallic
compounds.
