The aim of this subject is to develop for the students (1) types and functions of hydraulic structures, (2) the basic physical principles that govern the control of flows in hydraulic structures, and (3) familiarize students with criteria, and methods, for design and analysis of hydraulic structures

The syllabus of this subject includes introduction to hydraulic structures, design of regulators, seepage under hydraulic structures, design of regulators, design of gates, design of box culvert, design of stilling basins, design of inverted siphon, design of transition in open channel flow, design of transition in open channel flow, rectangular reinforce concrete tanks, circular reinforce concrete tanks, bridges, and barrages
