A survey of the latest manufacturing processes that are used in order to produce products that cannot be produced with conventional manufacturing processes. Processes covered will include, advanced casting methods, specialized welding methods, hot and cold working (forming processes), powder metallurgy, advanced metal cutting (machining) processes, CNC programming and other processes used in manufacturing industries. This course is designed to prepare students for technical leadership in industry. The impact of this class on the Mechanical Engineering program includes delivering core production concepts and advanced skills that blend vision and advanced manufacturing elements.
